GST and prices
Why plan prices and WhatsApp credit top-ups exclude GST, how 18% GST is added when you pay, and how it appears on your tax invoice.
Everything IconEngage charges for is priced before tax: plans and WhatsApp credit top-ups. 18% GST is added when you pay, and your tax invoice shows the GST separately.
Prices exclude GST
Wherever the app shows a plan's price, it adds "+ GST" after it, for example "₹1,499.00 per month + GST". You see this on:
- the plan cards on the Plans tab, with the line "18% GST is added at checkout." above them;
- your current plan under Your subscription on the Overview tab;
- the top of the plan review dialog.
All prices are in Indian rupees.
What you pay at checkout
When you choose a plan, the review dialog has a What you pay section:
| Line | Example (Starter, monthly) |
|---|---|
| Plan | ₹1,499.00 |
| GST (18%) | ₹269.82 |
| Total | ₹1,768.82 per month, charged by Razorpay |
The total is calculated by IconEngage's servers and is exactly what Razorpay charges you. The Next charge on the Overview tab shows the amount of your next payment.
Note: If you subscribed before GST was shown separately, you keep paying the same amount as before. Your invoice treats that amount as including GST, so the price does not rise without you choosing a new plan.
How GST appears on your invoice
Each paid invoice is a Tax invoice. It shows:
- Supplier: IconEngage's legal name, registered address, GSTIN, PAN and the SAC code for the service.
- Place of supply: the state code and name, for example "36 — Telangana".
- Billed to and Recipient GSTIN: your business details, when they are on file. See Business details and GSTIN.
- The plan line, followed by the GST lines with their rates, then the Subtotal, Tax and Total.
Which GST lines you see depends on the place of supply:
| Place of supply | GST lines |
|---|---|
| Telangana (the supplier's state) | CGST (9%) and SGST (9%) |
| Any other state | IGST (18%) |
IconEngage works out the place of supply from your GSTIN, or from the state in your business details if you have no GSTIN. You're asked for these before your first payment. If an older subscription has none on file, the supplier's own state is used, so the invoice shows CGST and SGST.
To view or save your invoices, see Invoices.
WhatsApp credit top-ups
GST is added on top of a top-up, the same way as for a plan:
| Line | Example |
|---|---|
| Credit | ₹1,000.00 |
| GST (18%) | ₹180.00 |
| Total | ₹1,180.00 |
Your WhatsApp credits grow by the credit amount (₹1,000 here), and each top-up gets its own tax invoice. See WhatsApp credits.
Neither of the two per-message charges is part of your plan price. IconEngage's service fee on each paid message (10% of Meta's charge by default) is taken from your WhatsApp credits, and GST is added when you buy those credits. Meta's own charge for the message is billed by Meta to your WhatsApp Business Account.
