Business details and GSTIN
Enter the business your tax invoices are issued to (legal name, GSTIN, address and state) and see how they decide the GST on your invoices.
Your business details say who IconEngage's tax invoices are issued to. With a GSTIN on file, you can claim the GST on your invoices as input tax credit.
Note: Only Owners and Billing Administrators can see and change business details.
Enter or change your business details
- Go to Settings › Business details. You can also open the Business details tab on any billing page.
- Enter your Legal name, exactly as registered. It is printed on your invoices.
- Enter your GSTIN: the 15 characters on your GST registration certificate. If your business isn't registered for GST, tick My business isn't GST-registered instead.
- Enter your Address (and Address line 2 if you need it), City and PIN code.
- Choose your State. If you entered a GSTIN, the state is filled in from it and can't be changed.
- Click Save business details.
You see "Business details saved". Your next invoice is issued to this business.
The GSTIN is checked as you type. If something is wrong, you see one of these messages:
| Message | What to check |
|---|---|
| A GSTIN is 15 characters. | You have too few or too many characters. |
| This is not the shape of a GSTIN: 2 digits, a PAN, then 3 characters. | The order of letters and digits is wrong. |
| This GSTIN's last character does not match the rest. Check it for a typo. | One character is mistyped. Copy it again from your certificate. |
| This GSTIN starts with a code that is not an Indian state. | The first two digits are wrong. |
A PIN code is 6 digits and doesn't start with 0.
Note: If you tick My business isn't GST-registered, your invoices carry no GSTIN and you can't claim the GST on them as input tax credit. You still pay the same GST.
Asked before you pay
IconEngage needs at least your legal name and your state before you pay for the first time. If they aren't on file when you click Continue to secure checkout for a plan, or Pay for a WhatsApp credits top-up, a Your business details window opens first: "We need these for your tax invoice before you pay."
Fill it in and click Save and continue to payment. The payment window then opens straight away.
Plan renewals are never held up for missing details.
Where your details appear on an invoice
| Label | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Billed to | Your legal name and address. |
| Recipient GSTIN | Your GSTIN, if you entered one. |
| Place of supply | Your state, which decides how the GST is split. |
An invoice keeps your details as they were when it was issued. Changing them later does not change invoices already issued. If an issued invoice needs correcting, IconEngage issues a credit note against it. See Invoices.
How your state affects GST
Your Place of supply comes from your GSTIN, or from the state you chose if you have no GSTIN:
- Telangana (IconEngage's state): the invoice shows CGST (9%) and SGST (9%).
- Any other state: the invoice shows IGST (18%).
The total GST is 18% either way. See GST and prices.
Your organisation's name in Organisation settings is not used on invoices. Only the legal name here is.
